One fine day, I received a wonderful phone call from my lovely niece Jordan. The conversation started out very casual but I could sense there was something more on her mind.  Then with a deep breath, out it came and she asked me if I would design her wedding gown!

I was truly honored that she would even ask, and of course I said yes immediately!  Jordan had a general idea of what she wanted, so a few months later I took a trip up to Wisconsin for our initial consultation with sketch pad and swatch books in hand for visualizing and designing the dress of her dreams.

We talked about various silhouettes, train lengths, and different types of fabrics and laces.  Once Jordan settled on a the primary dress components, and the design sketch, it was time to take her measurements in order to start her pattern. This is the original sketch Jordan approved for fabrication.

Upon my return to the Studio, I began working on the patterns and ordering the fabrics.  When Jordan arrived at the studio for her initial muslin fitting, we started making adjustments, and had another conversation about dress silhouettes.  I then found out that she was so excited about having her gown made that she hadn’t tried on any other wedding dresses. I stopped the fitting immediately and had her try on every style I had on the showroom floor. It’s very important for any bride to try on different silhouettes to see what style she is really drawn to and will be most flattering for her figure.  Within an hour of trying on multiple styles, Jordan truly found her dress; an A-line ball gown with out a train.  She said she was in love with the dress style and that it was “the one”.

Jordan looked dazzling in Sondra Falk Couture dress for the rehearsal dinner, pictured here with her Mom (Barb) and Groom Nico.

Finally, on a beautiful day in June, Jordan married her best friend Nico. I felt truly honored to have been asked to design a gown for such a special time in her life. We shared many special moments that I will cherish forever. Jordan, I wish you and Nico the best that life can offer, knowing that if you work together you can achieve anything.

I am so proud of you both and love you dearly.
